Reading: The Old Man and the Sea. The novel demonstrates how to write in a succinct manner. Earnest Hemingway is synonymous with terse prose and I want him to understand and be able to use this style.

Writing: He will rewrite "How to Work Hard". However, he will read How to Do Great Work...understand the word: affectation.

Greatness:
- math - a type of thinking
- art - aesthetic
How to combine these two areas? Interdisciplinary.
Examples of combining art and math: Penrose tile
Knot theory and it's uses.
Origami: using axioms to product any origami shapes (think bending metal sheets, packaging, and satellites)
Science: The concept of light and how color is formed.
- What is light?
- electromagnetic radiation, or we call it a photon
- concepts: depending on the wavelength of the photon, we can see particular color ranges
- we can see three colors: red, green, and blue.
Conditional break. We will be off during the break. However, if he does complete all the work assigned, then we will meet a week before school starts again.
